I know your ego
better than you realize
and so there is a lot
of back and forth
which I find to be insulting
which doesn’t matter
because you are byproduct
of evolution
but when we first started
fucking you led me to believe
that you were curious
And now I am having a hard
time adjusting to your limp
genius
You pretend to be smart America
but knowing the names of actresses
with big breasts or who directed
the actor with a long mustache
does not make you smart.
You are mainstream and boring

I like the way the poem turns on lines 14 and 15. the infatuation with american culture fades when you realize it is limp and boring.
